HARA AIKIDO DOJO
AIKIDO. "The way of harmony," is a Japanese martial art that was developed over the lifetime of Mohirei Ueshiba (1883-1969). Aikido developed from different armed and unarmed sports. The philosophy of aikido is non-confrontational, encouraging students to defuse conflicts with the minimum possible force. Attackers will find that they tend to subdue themselves as their balance and momemtum are subtly adjusted such that they end up in a pin against the ground or roll away from their intended target. Aikido emphasizes discipline, self-awareness and balance rather than strength, speed and endurance. Today, aikido is taught worldwide.
